Converter isn't converting the .flv files in my /uploads/ folder.
And when I try to: touch *.flv the folder content, I get "operation not permitted"... idem when I attempt to chmod these .flv files.
I suspect that this permissions issue may be the reason converter isn't working.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

putty... in the meantime I've gone in as root user and run chmod to change the permissions for the .flv files. So that's okay now.
But I'm not even certain anymore that permissions were what's stopping converter from processing the files.
I'm just about to go run converter manually the way Justin suggested in an earlier response to another person on this forum. I'll post here later whether that worked or not ...

Just want to provide some closure here... perhaps it will help other linux newbees like myself My installation is working fine now. Basically here are the things I did over the past days to get there: 1) using an SSH agent (putty in my case) I logged into my vps as root user 2) checked to see that the paths I'd inserted into converter (WDIR="/home/user_name/public_html/uploads" #no trailing / (forward slash) and FFMPEG="/usr/bin/ffmpeg") corresponded to the paths actually on my vps 3) navigated into /uploads/ and ran chmod 755 *.flv (not certain this was necessary... but I did it) to change permissions on the .flv video files 4) ran touch *.flv to get all the .flv video files to be recognized within the 10 minute time frame set by converter 5) ran converter... which gave me an error message for all those .flv files (FFMPEG wasn't being called) 6) [thanks to the kind help of Frankie on the PHPMotion forum] realized that the # in converter vars #WDIR="/home/user_name/public_html/uploads" #no trailing / (forward slash) and #FFMPEG="/usr/bin/ffmpeg") were turning these two lines into "comments" instead of vars... So I took them (the two hash marks #) both out 7) ran touch *.flv again in /uploads/ 'cause (a lot) more than 10 minutes had gone by since I'd previously done this 8) ran converter (in /uploads/) and sat back with pleasure watching while all the .flv files in /uploads/ get converted into mp4 right before my eyes After that the video redirects all worked perfectly too so that clicking on the videos' thumbnails now brings any iPhone using visitor into the QuickTime player and shows that video. What I still need to do is find a way to make site visitors using an iPhone automatically get redirected into mysite.com/ip/ which is the iPhone view, instead of mysite.com which is the pc view. Spent most of the day Googling for a script to do that and tried inserting dozens of them into main.inc.php, but none of them did the trick... certainly it was me doing something wrong in each case due to my inexperience with Linux. So, I'd really be grateful for any suggestions from you experts! Thanks
